Indigenous Services Canada is assisting individuals and families on-reserve by providing temporary COVID-19 funding (Basic Needs) of $300 per month per Income Assistance client retroactively for three months (December 2020 – February 2021).
As of July 31, 2020, the Emergency Benefit (EB) will no longer be available. Clients who continue to have exceptional COVID-19 related needs may apply for discretionary benefits through our Ontario Works office.
The Emergency Benefit is a one-time discretionary benefit that is intended to provide emergency financial support to social assistance recipients for special services, items or payments, at the discretion of the caseworker, to address health and safety issues related to COVID-19.
The Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services announced Emergency Assistance supports offered through Ontario Works for Ontarians who are in a crisis or facing an unexpected emergency and are unable to meet basic living expenses due to COVID-19.
We are continuing in our efforts to minimize the risk of a potential spread of the COVID-19 virus, so we thank you for not coming directly to our office. However, we are still available to assist by phone or email.
