The Omicron Variant has resulted in By-Law 1609 being reinstated.

Updates:

WHEREAS the Omicron Variant is quickly spreading across Ontario and is highly transmissible (4X more than the Delta Variant)

WHEREAS 88% of the population of Moose Factory Island aged 18 and over is now vaccinated, and 87% of those aged 12 to 17 are also vaccinated. A vaccine is now available for children aged 5-11

Emergency Preventative Measures

1. The only entrance to Moose Factory is McLeod’s Hill (Barge Landing) and this is where Checkpoint will be situated.

9. All public gatherings such as funerals, community meetings, etc. must ensure safety measures are implemented and approved by PEOT and implemented by the administrative leads of these gatherings.

20. All schools and daycares, spiritual services, traditional ceremonies, churches and sports/recreational programming in Moose Factory Island are permitted on the condition that safety measures are approved by the PEOT and implemented by the administrative leads of these gatherings.

Temporary Effectiveness

25. As per Council Motion # 2021-09-291 passed on December 21, 2021 this bylaw will remain in force to January 7, 2022, unless that time period is extended or abridged by resolution of Council.
