Purchase of Timmins Office Building
The Chief & Council of Moose Cree First Nation (MCFN) have approved the purchase of an office building located in downtown Timmins to re-establish service delivery to the Membership living in the Timmins and Cochrane region.
MCFN will take possession of the new facility later this month. A renovation and remodelling project will be undertaken during July and August, and we plan to occupy the building by early September 2021.
The two-storey building is located at 36 Birch Street. It was selected for its convenient location in downtown Timmins as well as for its value. The building has been well maintained by its previous owners, and Chief & Council determined that the building is a strong investment for our Membership residing the area.
The Departments that shall occupy the building include the following, either in their entirety or partly:
- Child and Family Services (which includes our Child Welfare Band Representative program)
- Lands & Resources
- Kirkland Lake Gold Implementation Team
- Economic Development
- Executive Services
It will also be a place for the delivery of a variety of services such as the issuance of status cards and for meetings.
This purchase is part of Chief & Council’s plan to strengthen the connection with the Membership living off-reserve and to improve service delivery to them.
If you have any questions regarding this advancement, please do not hesitate to contact Bartholemew Smallboy, Associate Executive Director at .
