Effective 9:00 pm on Monday, February 22, 2021 a lockdown will go into effect for Moose Factory Island until March 12, 2021.

Vehicle traffic to Moose Factory Island will be restricted to the following:

  1. Moose Factory Island residents
  2. Those travelling to Moose Factory Island that are deemed “essential workers”
  3. Residents of other communities that must travel to Moose Factory Island to receive medical care.

The only access point for all vehicles to enter Moose Factory Island will be the barge landing at McLeod’s Hill. All vehicles must stop at the screening checkpoint.

The lockdown was recommended by the Pandemic Emergency Operations Team and supported by the majority of Council at a meeting on February 22, 2021, in response to the increase of COVD-19 cases in Moosonee.

Inquiries can be directed to and they will be forwarded to the appropriate personnel.

Please continue to take care of yourselves and take care of each other in both Moosonee and Moose Factory.
