About Shibastik

Shibastik, Cree for “underground flow,” is an accomplished painter, athlete, rapper, hip hop producer and a proud member of the Moose Cree First Nation. Inspired by life as a Cree hunter on the Mushkegowuk Lowlands, his music and art promote awareness and appreciation for both the land and First Nation culture, past and present.

With 20 years of extensive training and experience working with Indigenous youth, including youth in foster care and in detention centres, Shibastik has always promoted holistic development through music, sports, arts and land-based programming.

Shibastik has presented and performed at conferences, universities, and events of all kinds nationwide, throughout the States and even in Mexico. His distinctive brand of music and thought-provoking lyrics have continued to move and empower audiences of all ages and backgrounds. Shibastik is currently nominated for 3 Native American Music Awards (NAMMYs). The winners will be announced in November.
