Statement from Moose Cree First Nation
December 1, 2021
At a Council Meeting on Monday, November 29th the Chief & Council rescinded Pandemic Bylaw #1609. This decision was made upon consideration of Moose Factory Island’s high vaccination rate of 77% and that many have also now received the vaccine booster.
However, please be advised that masks will remain mandatory within Northern Store, G.G.’s and in the Moose Cree Complex. While there is no longer a quarantine period for residents and non-residents of Moose Factory Island travelling to, or returning to the community, the screening checkpoints will remain in place on Moose Factory Island until further notice. This will assist with contact tracing, if it is required.
The Pandemic Emergency Operations Team (PEOT) is developing new safety guidelines that will be released on Friday, December 3rd, which will reflect some of the same elements that were in the former Pandemic Bylaw. The PEOT and Chief & Council will continue to monitor the pandemic situation locally and regionally and stricter measures will be re-introduced if deemed necessary.
We encourage all community members to get vaccinated and to receive the booster along with continuing to follow all established safety measures such as use of hand sanitizer, practicing physical distancing and staying home if you are not feeling well.
Your cooperation and support in keeping our families and community safe is greatly appreciated.
Please continue to take yourselves and take care of each other.
