Statement from Moose Cree First Nation

As Moose Cree First Nation Chief & Council, we stand in solidarity with Black Lives Matter movement.

We acknowledge the systematic discrimination that has impacted black lives historically and currently within North America. The tragic death of George Floyd is a result of a racist and prejudiced system.

As First Nations people we share similar experiences of racism, prejudice, and oppression and we stand in solidarity with Black Lives Matter. We also condemn any form of behaviour or speech that perpetuates prejudice, racism, and hate on our land.

For individuals of black descent in our community and beyond, we stand with you and for you in solidarity. Our ancestors taught us to live our lives with kindness, sharing, honesty, and strength, and we will continue to carry this legacy forward and work to dismantle oppression and uphold justice.
