Public Service Announcement

Moose Cree First Nation is committed to the public safety of our community regarding the animal control Issues we are currently facing. To address these growing concerns, the following actions will be taken immediately to assist in the efforts to take control of the situation and provide support going forward.

1. Help Us Help You:

If you as a Pet Owner need resources to care for your pet, such as tie-outs, water/food bowls, food etc. please contact our staff and we will assist you with your efforts.

2. Hiring Additional Resources:

We are currently hiring casual/on-call personnel to assist in capturing and caring for loose dogs on an as-needed basis. If you are interested, please contact us for details. No experience necessary, and all PPE and initial training will be provided.

3. We will be working with all community groups and organizations to provide services to the entire community of Moose Factory. This is to ensure the safety of all community members and those dogs that are roaming both on and off reserve.

To add to this, we would like to ensure that community members refrain from any verbal, derogatory, and threatening abuse towards our staff. Marlon and Phoebe are doing their best to address this situation, and appreciate your continued support, patience, and understanding. We welcome any constructive criticism and feedback on how we can improve our services and invite you to send an email to:

Thank you all for your feedback. We would also like to thank all of the responsible pet owners that are doing their part to help address this issue. With your continued assistance, we are hopeful we can address this situation and have a positive outcome for all.

Mîkwec, Stan Kapashesit Associate Executive Director
