Update Regarding the Election Appeals Process

The purpose of this update is to advise you that the Chief and Council has now appointed members to the Moose Cree First Nation Leadership Committee.

The Leadership Committee will now work with the Chief Electoral Officer to address any appeals that the Chief Electoral Officer has determined to be validly filed in accordance with the Moose Cree Election Regulations. The Leadership Committee have scheduled a meeting for next week.

Here is the new Leadership Committee as appointed by the Chief and Council:

2. Bertha Bigg
3. Norm Wesley
4. Heather Moore
5. Bert Wapachee (Council Member)
6. Stella Schimmens (Council Member)
7. Hayley Cheechoo (Council Member)

Member at Large Alternates:

• Leslie Jolly
• Robert Faries

Council Member Alternates:

• Elissa Cheechoo
• Howie Isaac

It should be noted, that as per section 13.2 (2) of the Moose Cree First Nation Election Regulations, any person that was a candidate in the last election or a current member of council, shall not participate in deciding any appeals. Accordingly, the council members appointed to the Leadership Committee will excuse themselves from deciding any appeals. 

We want to assure community members that any valid appeals will be addressed, and we thank you for your patience as we work through the appeals.
