Message from Jennifer Cool, Director:
Please come out and listen to our team as we move forward. A hot meal will be provided to our community members who would like to come and have discussions with us. This is a huge step for our First Nation. We have always stressed that this work needs to be done from the grassroots level and your voice is important.
This Law would give us full jurisdiction (or say) over our children and families involved with child welfare throughout Canada. This does not mean that we will become child welfare, but it means laws will be put in place that everyone must follow if they become involved with our members.
During this event we will be initiating a contest for an official name for our services.
We look forward to seeing you!
