Special Events Coordinator

Job Location: Moose Factory, ON


Position Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Executive Director, the Coordinator shall be responsible for the planning and coordination of Moose Cree First Nation community events such as the annual Gathering of Our People, National Indigenous Peoples’ Day, National Day of Truth and Reconciliation and other community events involving Moose Factory.  He/she will coordinate and implement tasks and activities as directed by the planning team(s). The coordinator will conduct regular planning meetings, act on direction given by the planning team(s), provide regular reports, seek sponsors and closely monitor the financial sector.  The coordinator will work with the other MCFN departments and community organizations and will play a key role in achieving the purpose and objectives of the various community events.



  1. Minimum of a grade 12 diploma or a diploma in Hospitality, Event Management, Business and/or Administration.
  2. Experience in coordinating major events.
  3. Experience in event planning or related work experience.
  4. Knowledge and experience with proposal writing.
  5. Excellent planning and coordination skills.
  6. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  7. Excellent computer skills.
  8. Excellent administration and financial management skills.
  9. Must have strong interpersonal skills and leadership qualities.
  10. Strong budgeting and financial management skills
  11. Proficient in MS Office software. (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher)
  12. Ability to work under minimal supervision and within a team framework.
  13. Ability to speak Cree is an asset.
  14. Must be able to provide a copy of most recent CPIC upon request or proof of application.
  15. Class “G” driver’s license would be an asset.


Salary: $54,600.00 – $69,166.50


Duration: Permanent with 3 months probation
