Legal Lead

Job Location: Moose Factory, ON

 

Position Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Director of Child & Family Services, the Legal Lead will have general oversight on all legal cases and will be responsible for informing appropriate staff on matters relating to the legal cases. The Legal Lead shall create, implement, and evaluate processes and systems for all legal case files while ensuring confidentiality and privacy is maintained. The Legal Lead shall be responsible for tracking court dates, legal status, deadlines, and other pertinent information relating to legal files in the department. They shall oversee staff working in the legal area and liaise with legal counsel on cases where required. The Legal Lead is responsible for all legal files relating to the Child & Family Services department and shall ensure that all files are safely stored and protected in an organized filing system.

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

  1. Post Secondary Education in law preferred, post secondary education in business or office administration with legal training or experience may be considered.
  2. 2 + Years of experience working in the area of child welfare or with a First Nation/Band Representative Program
  3. Experience working within a First Nation is an asset, Moose Cree preferred.
  4. Knowledge of bill C-92 and Moose Cree First Nation’s Law Development process.
  5. Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
  6. Excellent coordination and organizational skills.
  7. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  8. Ability to work in a team.
  9. Ability to exercise tact, discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  10. Knowledge of the Child, Youth and Family Services Act
  11. Strong written and oral communication skills.
  12. Must have a thorough understanding of the culture in which they serve.
  13. Fluency in the Moose Cree Language is an asset.
  14. “G” Driver’s license required.

 

Salary: $80,008,50 – $101,380.50

 

Duration: Permanent with 3 months probation
