Forestry Coordinator

Job Location: Kapuskasing or Timmins, ON

 

Position Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Director of Lands and Resources, the Forestry Coordinator will support the Moose Cree First Nation (MCFN) Lands and Resources department in monitoring resource development activities proposed or occurring within the MCFN Homelands. Primarily, the incumbent will act as a liaison between MCFN and industry proponents and others on forestry matters. The incumbent will work closely with department staff and others in developing recommendations and strategies that are aligned with any current and future MCFN land use interests, community practices, values, and priorities.

Qualifications/Requirements:

 

  1. Post-Secondary education in the natural sciences and/or forestry would be an A combination of education or training and experience will be considered.
  2. Familiar with forestry operations and forest management planning would be an
  3. Knowledge of the local Cree culture, community, and ability to speak Cree would be an
  4. Experience working with First Nations
  5. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  6. High level of organization and project management
  7. Demonstrated research and analytical
  8. Strong communication
  9. Flexible and adaptable to changing
  10. Ability to work under minimum supervision and in a team
  11. Must be willing to
  12. Willing to work outside normal work hours as
  13. Must provide a satisfactory CPIC or proof of
  14. Valid class G driver’s license is

 

Salary: As per funding $58,500.00 – $69,852.00

 

Duration:One-year term with possibility of extension
