Community Engagement Coordinator

Position Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Operations Development Manager, the Community Engagement Coordinator shall develop and implement a communication & community engagement plan for the Child & Family Services department. The incumbent shall create and manage social media accounts, as well as other media or informational outlets. The Community Engagement Coordinator shall work with the staff to ensure that information is communicated to our MCFN citizens in a timely, concise, and clear matter. The incumbent shall act as a resource for all staff in the department, in relation to any community engagement, communications or public relations work. They will create posters, informational brochures, presentations and various other digital media for the department. They will also schedule, coordinate and attend information sharing events, meetings or conferences. The Community Engagement Coordinator shall promote positive relationships with MCFN citizens, community partners and stakeholders. They shall perform information gathering on programs and services for our families and making connections with various organizations.



  1. Post Secondary education in communities, public relations, or similar is preferred. Other post-secondary education experience in a relevant field may be considered.
  2. 2 years’ experience working in communications, community engagement or similar role.
  3. Experience using various digital media creation applications and/or programs.
  4. Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
  5. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion.
  6. Strong attention to detail.
  7. Knowledge of community resources and partners of the Band Representative Program.
  8. Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
  9. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  10. Ability to work in a fast paced and constantly changing environment.
  11. Must be able to work outside of our regular business hours when required.
  12. Knowledge of MCFN’s Band Representative program is an asset.
  13. Ability to speak Cree is an asset.
  14. G or G2 Driver’s License required.


Salary: $69,556.50 – $88,120.50


Duration: Permanent with 3 months probation
