Position:

Environmental Monitor

Position Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Lead Negotiator and Moose Cree Resource Protection Committee, the Environmental Monitor will be responsible for representing the Moose Cree First Nation to manage environmental conditions in respect of the Project or to mitigate adverse Environmental Effects as set out in the Impact Benefit Agreement. He/she shall provide advice on cultural protection, provide support to the Committee on operational procedures, conduct and transcribe interviews with citizens of Moose Cree regarding land use, assist, consult and collaborate with Traditional Ecological Knowledge Manager, input, index and securely store data collection, research, collect and organize existing TEK data, and attends meetings as required.

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of existing environmental issues and resources within the Moose River Basin.
• Excellent communication and public speaking skills.
• Experience with permitting and approval requirements for project.
• Practical application of Traditional Knowledge.
• Experience with the provincial and federal EA processes and monitoring of environmental effects.
• Basic understanding of the Victor (Diamond) Project.
• Familiarity with the Cree language.

Duration: Term Position (possibly 3 to 12 months)
